Frequently Asked Questions

Wheel Stops

RubberForm is one of the only true US manufacturers of recycled rubber and plastic composite wheel stops. They are made from domestically sourced materials, manufactured and assembled in the U.S. We believe that this is the only way to maintain our high standards of quality control.

Yes, any combination of available colors can be ordered for the same price (except custom colors).

We offer a 5-year product warranty from manufacturer defects. Under normal use, the RubberForm wheel stop should last for years.

Generally, we recommend 14” mooring spike for installation into asphalt, and our lag bolt hardware set (lag bolt, anchor and washer) for concrete installation. If you have the time and tools to install, using the lag bolt hardware set is the best way to mount/moor the wheel stops at a similar cost to mooring spikes. We also have Eco-Bond adhesive for applications that don’t allow you to breach the surface for installation, such as reinforced concrete or parking decks.

Every RubberForm wheel stop has 4 mounting and or mooring holes. We recommend using all 4 holes to mount for optimal installation.

We can ship up to 70 on a heavy-duty pallet.

Our wheel stops feature patented snap-on polygons made from recycled plastic.

We offer polygons in safety yellow, polar white, handicap blue (for handicapped parking spots), emergency red (emergency vehicle parking spots), and eco-green (hybrid, electric and eco-friendly cars). Custom colors are available and require a minimum order. Every RubberForm Wheel Stop has 2 yellow end caps for added visibility and safety for patrons.

With RubberForm’s 2019 U.S. patent, the polygon can be replaced in the field. Just snap off the broken polygon and snap in place a new one, a feature we worked 5 years on to perfect.

We have no minimums; RubberForm is very flexible! We ship via common carrier (LTL), and for smaller quantities we can ship via UPS and FedEx Ground.

Our parking lot wheel stops are generally a stock item that can be shipped the next business day from receipt of your order. Quantities over 1,000 may take additional time.

No, not if they are installed properly. Our wheel stops are made of recycled tire rubber and recycled plastics, just as your tires, they don’t warp or crack. Proper installation is needed so they adhere to the ground.

Trackout Control Mats

Yes. At RubberForm, we pride ourselves on durability. Our track-out control mats are built to last and perform at a consistently high level. At the end of your project, simply fold the mat back up for the next job site or for easy storage.

No, our track-out mats are meant to be used with pneumatic tires only.

No. RubberForm has a variety of track-out mat sizes that weigh anywhere from 730-pounds to 1200-pounds. The extreme weight of our mats helps ensure that the mat will not slide or move around.

No. RubberForm’s track-out control mat conforms to whatever surface contractors are working with. Whether it be an uneven dirt or rock road or even a concrete or asphalt pad, RubberForm’s mats do not need any pre-installation work whatsoever. Simply set the mat down and forget it.

You do not need to. Again, the weight RubberForm’s various track-out mat sizes helps keep the mats in place. Simply lay one mat in front of the other, or side-by-side depending on the necessary track-out pad dimensions for the project. For peace of mind, contractors will wrap chains on the mats or u-locks, but this is not necessary.

RubberForm’s track-out control mats are pre-assembled and arrive to the jobsite folded like an accordion. Use a forklift or loader to lift the mat off the pallet and lay the mat down wherever your desired stabilized construction entrance/exit needs to be.

Simply lift the mat up with your forklift or loader, give it a shake, and lay it back down. There is no bottom to RubberForm’s track-out control mat. The gaps in-between each track-out block traps the sediment that falls from the construction vehicle ensuring that the mat will never clog up.

RubberForm has a 5-year warranty on the track-out blocks. Should any of the blocks break from vehicles driving over the mat, email your sales rep pictures of the broken blocks, and RubberForm will send you new blocks to swap out.

Spill Containment

Yes, with the proper tools you can cut and fabricate on-site. You will need a radial arm or chop saw with the proper saw blade. We offer an installation guide, so you can fabricate and install on-location.

Definitely glue/seal/caulk your berm down. This creates the seal for the spill berm. Not all surfaces are level, and the glue/sealer/caulk should fill in the holes or gaps on the surface. We also recommend bolting down in place; however, this is up to the customer and your P.E./engineer’s recommendation. If it is in a high traffic area, we highly recommend bolting and sealing/caulking/adhering in place.

RubberForm has a custom fabrication service department for cutting and drilling. Our team can custom fabricate our spill berms per your specification requirement and layout. There is a charge for custom fabrication which is included in our quotes so you will know the exact fees. Email your drawing and specs to Sales@RubberForm.com to work with one of our product specialists to provide a firm quotation for your project.

We recommend bolting down every 1 ½’ to 2’. Our rubber berm needs to be sealed/caulked/glued down as well. However please consult with your P.E. and engineer for your specific project requirements.

According to the rules governed by the EPA’s SPCC, you must ensure your containment area has enough capacity to contain at least 10% of the total volume of the primary containers, or 100% of the volume of the largest container, whichever is greater. You would need to engineer the volume of liquid that fits into the square foot area you have to work with. If you need help, please give one of our specialists a call. For a rough estimate of the height and containment berm needed, contact us for our spreadsheet.

Yes. We have drive-over spill containment ramp solutions that can be combined with any of our spill berms. We’d be glad to help you with this over a quick phone call!

The customers drawing is helpful, but we need one to mark all the pieces of cut berm and give to our fabrication team.

Too much can go wrong and has gone wrong without a drawing done by our team. The drawing needs to be approved by the customer with written proof and signed off before we start.

RubberForm needs to have you approve the spill berm containment layout for your secondary containment berm based on your requirements which is drawn up by RubberForm’s SolidWorks CAD designer. Your approval is needed before we custom fabricate in plant at RubberForm’s facility where we will custom-build to your spill berm layout specifications. This CAD drawing is used to fabricate in our plant and for your installation crew at your facility. Our RubberForm team will also lay out the completed fabricated berm system to double check that the berm is fabricated as drawn and approved by you.

Depending on the spill berm size and the amount of fabrication we will be doing; this can range from 1 week to 3 weeks. Please email us your drawing at service@rubberform.com so we can quote and provide a better timeframe for delivery.

We offer 3 sizes of spill containment berms. Our extruded EDPM rubber spill berms come in 2”, 4”, and 6” heights.

The EPA/DEC have guidelines for this SPCC – Spill Containment Counter Measure requirement. Based on the SPCC requirement, you must ensure your containment area has enough capacity to contain at least 10% of the total volume of the primary containers, or 100% of the volume of the largest container, whichever is greater. We have a spreadsheet that provides a rough estimate of the height and size containment berm you will need. Please consult with your licensed engineer/P.E. for certification and full requirements.

Speed Bumps and Speed Humps

Yes, if you need to remove them for the winter, just unbolt or unscrew the bolts/screws and store for the season. Seal the holes with Eco-Bond so water, dirt and rocks do not get lodged in the holes.

RubberForm is one of the only true U.S. manufacturers of rubber speed bumps and speed humps. They are made from domestically sourced scrap tire rubber, manufactured, and assembled in the U.S. We believe that this is the only way to maintain our high standard of quality control.

Yes, our MLSB traffic calming product line, with a 24” rebar spike or gravel earth screw can be purchased from RubberForm. These rebar spikes and earth screws should be checked periodically to make sure they have not crept up to create a hazard.

We offer a lag bolt mounting system consisting of a lag bolt, anchor, and washer to anchor into pavement or concrete. There are 4 anchor holes for our MLSB product line in each speed bump. For temporary situations, you can just lay them down or moor them in place with our GRK’s RSS™ Rugged Structural Screw. For our RK Series speed bump and speed humps, there are 2 anchor holes for each 24” long section.

Our line of MLSB speed bumps come in 36” long pieces that connect with a dovetail, allowing you to create the length you need. Our RK series speed bump and speed humps come in 24” sections that link together with a special dual-flange connector which also allows you to create any length you need.

For our MLSB2.5 we use 2 embedded AASHTO approved yellow reflectors. On our MLSB3 and MLSB4, we use a high visibility reflective yellow tape. For our RK series speed bumps and speed humps we use a special-formulated safety yellow paint with reflective glass beads.

We have custom-formulated the right material for hard traffic over many years of use. We use masticated recycled rubber, which is harder and more durable than virgin clay-filled rubber or crumb rubber and poly compounds.

Our speed bumps and speed humps are in stock and can usually be shipped out the following day. Larger orders (greater than 100 units) may take a little longer – please provide us enough time to manufacture and let us know when you will need delivery.

RubberForm has the largest and most diverse traffic calming product line in the USA. We offer our MLSB and RK Speed Bump and Speed Hump Product Lines. nOur MLSB2.5 speed bump is a 2-½” high by 36” long with 2 ATTSA yellow reflectors, which will slow traffic to 5 to 10 mph. nOur MLSB3 speed bump is a 3” high by 36” long with bright yellow reflector strip, which will slow traffic to 5 mph. nOur MLSB4 is the most aggressive speed bump on the market. This 4” high speed bump will slow traffic to about 3-5 mph and was designed for use on construction sites and trucks (not recommended for pedestrian or personal vehicle use).nWe offer 3 products in our RK speed bump and speed hump product line. All sections are 24” long so they can be sectioned together for any road/lane width needed.nThe RK-10 speed bump is a 1-7/8” high x 10” wide x 24” long section with end cap sections. nOur RK-18 mini speed hump is a 1-7/8” high x 18” wide x 24” long section with end cap sections.nOur RK-36 speed hump is a 1-7/8” high x 36” wide x 24” long section with end cap sections.n

Sign Bases

We offer thermoformed plastic safety yellow, or handicap blue covers that snap on top of the sign base for higher visibility. The plastic covers can be ordered in custom colors, however, require a minimum quantity order.

You can either tip-and-roll into position, or if you need an easier way to move around, we offer a sign base mover cart for longer distances. We have 2 sizes available – one for our standard 72-pound sign base and one for our additional 75-pound sign base weight, for a total weight of 150 pounds.

We can ship up to 20 sign bases per pallet via common carrier – LTL.

72 pounds, with a low center of gravity for added stability. We also have a 75-pound base weight for high wind areas with larger signs.

Simply just tip on its bottom side edge and roll the round base into position. Grab the top of the side post and place you hand halfway down the signpost and push into position. If you need a cart to move, we have two size sign base carts, for our 72-pound sign base and our 150-pound sign base post system.

Yes, we have an add-on sign base weight that will add 75 pounds to our sign base, for a total of more than 145 pounds. It also creates a wider base, making it less likely to tip.

Just one sign base. We can ship out via FedEx or UPS ground to any location or up to 20 sign bases per pallet via common carrier – LTL.

Our sign bases are generally in stock and can be shipped out the following business day. Larger orders (greater than 100 sign bases) may take a little longer.

We generally recommend a 5’ signpost for our sign bases. This cuts down on the wind shear that might tip the sign base over in higher wind areas. If you require a taller post, please order our 75-pound sign base weight that attaches to the bottom of our 72-pound sign base. This added sign base weight will enable you to go up to the MUTCD height of 7’ to 8’, use a metal post for this application as plastic may bend in the wind. Please check with your local sign ordinances for the regulations and or sign code requirements.

We have 3 signpost hole sizes. They can be ordered with a square hole to accommodate a 1-¾” square perforated or smooth, square post with drilled holes. The square hole base will accommodate a U-channel post as well. We can also custom-fabricate square tubes to any configuration and powder coat any color. We also have sign bases with a round post holes to accommodate a 2-⅜” round Schedule 40 plastic post or aluminum post and a 1-⅔” round post. The round plastic 2-⅜” post is our most-popular signpost base.

Most of these sign bases are imported, from China and Quebec Canada (Canada subsidizes their tire recycling and product manufacturing program as much as 50% subsidy). Our sign base is made in our plant in the USA, New York State. We’ve had these octagonal sign bases tested by national sign companies, and they told us the RubberForm sign base is much more stable in high winds due to its low center of gravity design. Side-by-side comparison tests done by our customers have shown RubberForm sign bases winning indisputably.

Rooftop Pavers

Yes. We mold them with course recycled scrap tire rubber, so they will contour to the roof surface and be soft on foot traffic. Please request a sample piece to see the RubberForm difference for yourself!

Our most common colors are gray, black, terra cotta red and custom colors per request.

RubberForm’s roof paver is made specifically for roofs and molded where there is no porosity in the rubber for water or other elements to infiltrate.

Hose Ramps and Pipe Ramps

There are no connector pieces, but they can be laid side-by-side in a row.

Generally, they do not, but that depends on the application and your requirements. Just lay down and place your pipe or hose into the open slot. Our 2” pipe ramp weighs 36 pounds and our 4” pipe ramp set (2 ramps and our interconnector) weighs a total of 84 pounds each and are stabilized by the inserted pipe. If they need to be anchored in place, we recommend the GRK’s RSS™ Rugged Structural Screw.

Our pipe ramps are extruded with EDPM rubber and are construction rated. They have been tested and used daily with large construction vehicles and large emergency vehicles.

Our 2” hose and pipe ramp is designed to hold up to a Schedule 40 pipe, 2 ⅜” OD, however you could fit a 3” OD hose/pipe.

Our pipe ramp was engineered for the Yelomine™ and Aquamine® pipes, however our pipe ramp can fit up to a 5” pipe or hose.

We extrude both our 2” and 4” pipe and hose ramps in 36” (3’) sections. We can custom extrude up to 10’ if needed.

If your municipal project is in a mandated prevailing rate area, the first time you use our pipe ramps they will be paid for. Please email RubberForm (Sales@RubberForm.com) for our cost-justification spreadsheet so you can convince your municipality and or your team to use the RubberForm pipe ramp system.

No, the pipe or hose will need to be strong enough to hold the weight. Our ramps will disburse and hold the pipe in place as the vehicle rolls over the ramp and inserted pipe.

Our 4” pipe and hose ramp system consist of 2 ramps and one ramp interconnector piece that holds the 2 ramps together when the pipe or hose is inserted. The total weight of this ramp set is 84 pounds. The ramp pieces stay below the OSHA standard weight regulation for one man. These pieces easily fit together on-site and are ready for use in minutes.
