Product Description

Federal Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) regulations require that a containment area has enough capacity for at least 10% of the total volume of the all the containers within the facility, or 110% of the volume of the largest container, whichever is greater. Failure to comply can lead to fines and disciplinary actions. Protecting your workers, neighbors, and the environment is also just the right thing to do. And when you’ve done it, you can focus on your best work, guilt-free.

Traditional spill containment involves expensive, custom-designed poured concrete, cinder block or metal angle iron barriers that can chip, break, crack, and bend over time and require demolition for any reconfiguration.

RubberForm Spill Containment Berms are custom-made in the shape and size for your project need and can adhere to almost any surface, indoors or outdoors. Removal, relocation and redeployment is easy as your needs change. Our 100% American recycled composite material berms are made for any environment: heat, cold, rain, ice, or snow, and will not crack, crumble, or corrode over time.

Simply provide the dimensions and layout of your containment area, and RubberForm will deliver a fully customized, turn-key containment solution, complete with precision-cut berm sections, drill holes to mount to the floor, all necessary hardware, and industrial-grade adhesive/sealant/caulk. To streamline installation, we include a detailed layout drawing with clearly numbered berm sections, ensuring a fast, accurate, and hassle-free setup every time.

Our liquid-tight sealant/caulk and composite material berms are both highly resistant to most chemicals–self-certification testing kits are available at no-charge, just contact us for more info.

*Please consult with your environmental engineer and state or local DEC/DEP to ensure compliance.

FREQUENTLY ASKED

What liquids will your spill berms contain?

RubberForm uses recycled TPV rubberized plastic for our spill berm. Our customers have tested it with water, oil, diesel fuel, phosphoric acid, nitric acid, hydraulic oil, and food-grade oil, among others. RubberForm has free of charge self-certification spill berm testing kits so your team can self-certify that your liquid will not penetrate the TPV. Just ask and we'll send you one.

What do you need to get started?

For simple layouts, we just need dimensions. For more complex situations, we’ll need a sketch, schematic, or drawing. We’ll then send you a CAD drawing to sign off on before we start fabrication.

Do we need to bolt and apply sealant for your spill berm?

Yes, you must bolt and apply sealant when installing our spill berms for a proper seal. Not all surfaces are level, and the sealant should fill in the holes or gaps on the surface. Bolting it down increases the mechanical strength of the whole berm structure.

Which height spill berm do I need?

The EPA/DEC have guidelines for this: the SPCC – Spill Containment Counter Measure requirement. Based on this, you need to contain 110% of the stored liquids on premise, 110% of the largest container in a specific area, or 10% of all the containers in a specific area. Please consult with a qualified SPCC engineer specialist to make sure your company is compliant.

What if I need to drive in and out of the containment area?

We have a drive-over spill containment berm that can be used by itself or in conjunction with our standard spill containment berms.

What is the turnaround time for these spill berms?

It depends on the spill berm type, size, complexity, and the amount of fabrication we will be doing in our factory. Most orders are fabricated and shipped in a matter of days after receiving the approved drawing.

What size of spill containment berms does RubberForm offer?

We offer 2”, 4”, 6”, and 8” spill containment berms (as well as drive-over options).

Do I have to cut or drill your spill berm after it arrives?

No, we do all the fabrication for you. You send us your sketch, schematic, or drawing, and we’ll provide a CAD drawing for you to approve. We’ll send installation instructions too. All you have to do is drill into the floor where the berm will be installed and apply the sealant.
