Nobody loves their parking lot more than their building. Their building has new paint and brightly colored signage. It’s full of employees who welcome customers in and help them with whatever problem they have. The building is part of a carefully branded customer experience, and the parking lot generally is not.

The parking lot usually has a few cracks in it. The lines are fading a bit. And the property owner is dreading the day when they’ll have to finally repave and stripe the whole thing.

But there’s an easy way to flip your parking lot into an essential part of the branded experience of the whole property: portable signage and brandable wheel stops.

In this article, we’ll discuss the following key takeaways:

  • Your parking lot is the first stage of your customer experience.
  • Small branding elements can transform a parking lot from ordinary to extraordinary one.
  • Flexible parking lot infrastructure allows your branding to evolve with your business.
  • Durable, customizable products help maintain a professional appearance for years.

Why bother with parking lot branding?

Seal a few of the cracks, repaint a few lines, and your parking lot would look not quite brand new, but at least refreshed. The problem is, it would still be an ordinary lot.

Part of the reason no property owner loves their parking lot more than their building is because they’ve so rarely parked in a lot that captured their attention. Most lots don’t have any more branding than the sign on the storefront, or maybe a sign by the road.

Do you know who does thoroughly brand their parking lots? Theme parks and airports. They understand that the excitement of a visit to their property starts as soon as the car hits their lot. They’ve got branded parking lot signs everywhere, and branded elements on other objects like bollards, wheel stops, lane dividers, and curbs. Their customers are locked into the experience before they even cross the building doorway.

How do I get a branded parking lot?

It’s easier than it looks. You don’t need airport or theme park money to do it. Custom aluminum signs aren’t hard to do. But don’t put them in a concrete block or directly into the pavement. That locks you permanently into doing signage one way.

RubberForm’s portable sign base is easy to install–just insert the sign post, tip the whole thing on its side, and roll to the desired location. It has a low center of gravity, so it won’t tip over even in heavy wind. Heck, if you’ve got really strong winds in your parking lot, you can add an optional base weight to make the whole thing extra sturdy.

Because our sign bases are so easy to relocate, you can rearrange the signage in your lot quickly. This is perfect for curbside pickup lanes that only operate part of the day, or for special events, or just for whenever your business growth requires your traffic flow to change in your lot.

If you already have concrete bollards and want to brand them, don’t paint them. That paint will start chipping and cracking in the first year. Our RubberForm Bollard Covers come in a variety of colors to match your brand. They fit right over your bollards and rest directly on the ground, giving the whole set of them in your lot a uniform height, even if the original bollards have warped a little.

Most wheel stops in a parking lot are gray, concrete, ugly, and boring. RubberForm wheel stops might just become the most beautiful part of your lot. They don’t take much longer than our sign bases to install–no large crews or heavy equipment. They each come with several colored polygons that can be customized exactly how you prefer: in your custom colors, printed with your custom logo, or both if you like. If a polygon ever cracks or chips over time, we offer lifetime warranties on them. Just give us a call and we’ll send you new ones.

That means your new branded lot will stay looking as fresh as the day you first installed all your wheel stops.

What now?

With custom branded signs, reconfigurable at a moments notice, uniform bollard covers, and custom colored wheel stops filling your parking lot, you’ll have an incredible customer experience from parking to purchase. Your loyal customers will feel all the positive attachments they have to your brand from the moment they enter your lot to the moment they leave. It won’t just start at the door anymore.

The biggest plus? Every other lot they park in will seem positively ordinary. That will only elevate your brand further in their mind. When you’re ready to build an incredible branded experience in your parking lot, give us a call.

FAQs

Are your sign bases, wheel stops, and bollard covers truly made in the USA?

RubberForm is one of the only true U.S. manufacturers of recycled composite sign bases, recycled composite wheel stops, and plastic bollard covers. Our products are made from domestically sourced recycled materials, molded, manufactured, and assembled in upstate New York. We believe American materials, workers, and ingenuity are the only way to maintain our high standards of quality.

Does RubberForm offer a wheel stop warranty?

We stand behind our products with a 5-year product warranty from manufacturer defects. Under normal use, the RubberForm wheel stop should last for many more years. The 8 large polygons and 2 end yellow polygons are guaranteed for the lifetime of the product (if purchased directly from us).

How portable are your sign bases?

They’re so easy to move your grandparents could do it. Simply tip the base over on its bottom side edge and roll it into position (that’s why our base is round!). Grab the top of the signpost and push/roll it into the top of the base. If you need a cart to move, we have two sign base carts: one for our 72-pound sign base and another for our 150-pound sign base w/base weight. No need for mounted wheels that will eventually rust or break off.

Why are your sign bases round instead of octagonal?

Two reasons: our round sign bases can be rolled on their side, which is why we call them portable. Octagonal sign bases can’t. But our round design is also more stable in high-wind conditions. The center of gravity is lower than any octagonal design we’ve seen. In side-by-side comparisons some of our customers have actually done, the round sign base always stays upright longer in heavy wind.
